CHENNAI: A patient half-century by skipper Gautam Gambhir (57 not out, 56b, 5 x 4) Thursday carried Delhi Daredevils to a deserving six-wicket win against the Chennai Super Kings to take them a big stride towards the semi-finals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After restricting the hosts to 112 for nine in 20 overs, the Daredevils survived a dramatic collapse at the start when they lost four wickets for 38 with Gambhir and Mithun Manhas (25 not out, 32b, 2 x 4) adding 75 runs for the unfinished fifth wicket.

The victory took Delhi's tally to 14 points from 13 matches while the Super Kings remain on 12 with one more match in hand.
