Government respects judiciary: Pakistani PM |

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani says his government respects the judiciary and implements its decisions.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Gilani said: "How can a government which restored the 1973 constitution in its original form and its leadership struggled for restoration of judiciary would not respect the judiciary."
The prime minister's remark was in reference to the row over Sohail Ahmed, who was removed from the post of establishment secretary and made 'officer on special duty'.
The officer had issued a notification regarding transfer of Inspector General of Police of Gilgit-Baltistan Hussain Asghar to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) so that he could resume investigation into a scam in which close aides of the prime minister were allegedly involved
Ahmed was, however, appointed as secretary of the narcotics control division after the Supreme Court's intervention.
He said framing the Constitution was the job of the parliament while the judiciary makes its interpretation.
The prime minister said that transfers and postings was the prerogative of the Chief Executive.
"Our government had always implemented the decisions of the Supreme Court in letter and spirit..."
