NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Tuesday issued notice to the CBI on a petition by Sanjay Chandra of Unitech and Vinod Goenka of DB Realty seeking bail in the second generation spectrum scam.
Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice H.L. Dattu issued the notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), returnable in two weeks.
Both Chandra and Goenka were represented by senior counsels Ram Jethmalani and Mukul Rohtagi. They have challenged the high court order of May 23 rejecting their bail.
The petitioners said that their fundamental right to freedom granted under article 21 of the constitution was being violated.
